360 Degree Appraisals

The 360 Degree Appraisal process normally measures an individual's impact and performance against leadership and management competencies, looking at how these are demonstrated to different groups of people at various levels.

Creating an environment of continuous learning is essential for developing leaders and managers - particularly at senior levels, where we hold positions of power and structured formal feedback can be difficult to acquire.

We normally ask for feedback from up to 14 people. An example of the groups we may ask for feedback are:

  1. Senior leaders
  2. Peers
  3. Direct reports
  4. Staff / other key stakeholders

Feedback is compared to the appraisee's own view, which helps them develop emotional awareness, become more self-aware and able to judge their impact and skills. This whole process is confidential and levels of confidentiality are discussed at the beginning of the process.

Feedback is presented in graph format, with appraisers' comments included which are collated and randomised to aid anonymity. The final feedback report is given face-to-face or by video call by an experienced coach/mentor in leadership development. The feedback is explored deeply, so that key themes and patterns around strengths and areas of development are identified and captured. This process helps a person develop a better understanding of their impact at work and build self awareness.

What we do

We develop bespoke 360 Degree Appraisals in line with your own organisational values and competencies or use existing 360 Degree Appraisals we have developed working with senior leaders.

This feedback may be an additional development tool to run alongside your organisation's traditional appraisal, or it can be aligned to your organisation's appraisal process. Crucially, the 360 Degree Appraisal will give people a platform for future development and support in creating a personal development plan.

If a number of leaders and managers are involved in a 360 Degree Appraisal, we can also run a team report which shows the overall trends of this group of people, giving insight into your leaders and managers and how they are seen.

We have also developed a Team 360 Degree Appraisal exploring the skills of an existing team and focused on developing a high performing team.
